YOUR CHEER DETERMINES THE WINNER!

We will stage Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie, Balboa and Shag competitions in the true spirit of the Savoy Ballroom of the 1930s, where the dancers enjoyed showing off their hottest new dance steps in weekly contests. The competitors will strive to impress you aiming for the loudest cheers in order to win the battle for the greatest honours and best prizes. All contests of the RTSF are open, so anybody who likes to compete can take part in the contest. The registration will take place at the venue of the specific night.

 

Fast Feet Jack’n’Jill Lindy Hop & Boogie Woogie (Friday)

The Fast Feet Jack’n’Jill contest is a very special competition. In each round the contestants will dance with various randomly assigned partners as in regular Jack’n’Jill style. Additionally the music will speed up. The finals will be danced according to the principle of the “Weakest Link.” This means that the judges will take out the weakest couple each round, new partners will be assigned, until three couples are left. The audience will choose about the winners with their applause. The Boogie Woogie contest will be danced to 50s and the Lindy Hop contest to 40s music.

Lindy Hop Cup & Boogie Woogie Cup (Sunday)

The final round will be done in jam format. The couples will have spotlights of 16 eights and try to outdo each other.

Shag Battle (Saturday)

The final round will be done in jam format. The couples will have spotlights of 16 eights and try to outdo each other.

Balboa Red Square Contest (Saturday)

The couples of the final round will dance a spotlight of about 1 minute inside a red square of 1 meter side length. The aim is to shine without crossing the boundary.

Open Jack’n’Jill Lindy Hop Contest (Monday)

In the “All Skate” prelims each contestant dances with various partners. Leaders and followers will be judged separately. Depending on the number of participants a spotlight round may be danced in the finals.

Prizes

The contestants await magnificant prizes again. We thank all event organizers and companies for their donations. The top three in each contest receive a prize. The winning couples can select in the order of their placements.
