Journey

Munich is easily accessible by plane, train or car and the city’s public transportation system is excellent. Except Friday and Sunday night all venues are near the central station and the famous “Stachus”.

Arrival by Plane

Munich Airport (Franz-Josef-Strauß)

From the airport you can get into the city by train (S-Bahn), Aiport Bus or a cab. A cab ride costs about 60-65 Euro and takes about 40-60 minutes. Going with the Aiport Bus or the S-Bahn is easy and cheap. The stations are located in the airport.

A single ride with the bus is 10.50 Euro. A round-trip ticket is only 17 Euro. The S-Bahn normally is the fastest way. If you are a group of poeple or want to continue on the public transportation system it is also the cheapest. Traveltime to the city is about 40 minutes. A single ticket for one person costs 10.40 Euros. For 11.20 Euros you can get a day ticket that allows you to use the public transportation system for the whole day. With a partner ticket for 20.40 Euros you can have up to 5 people going together the whole day.

You can take both trains that leave from the airport, S8 and S1. From the exit "Karlsplatz/Stachus" it’s only a 3 minute walk to the check-in.

All locations of the festival, except Das Schloss (Friday evening) and Deutsches Theater (Sunday evening), are in walking distance. With the public transportation system you get to Das Schloss and Deutsches Theater in about 20-30 minutes.

Airport Memmingen

Ryanair, WizzAir, and other low-cost airlines fly only to the airpot Memmingen. Even it is also called Munich-West it is about 110 km away from Munich. You need to take a train or a bus into Munich. Please check early for possibilities.

Arrival by Train

Your destination is "München Hauptbahnhof". You can find the timetable information and book the tickets for the German railway system at www.bahn.de. From the Hauptbahnhof it is a 5 minute walk to the check-in.

All locations of the festival, except Das Schloss (Friday evening) and Deutsches Theater (Sunday evening), are in walking distance. With the public transportation system you get to Das Schloss and Deutsches Theater in about 20-30 minutes.

Arrival by Car

Emission Sticker

To enter the city by car you need an emission sticker. The environmental zone ranges over the whole city area within the Mittlerer Ring. It doesn‘t affect you if you are only coming to the Jamboree Ball at the Deutsches Theater or keep parking there, because the theatre is located outside of the Mittlerer Ring.

The stickers are available at all TÜV and DEKRA offices, car dealers, vehicle registration offices, and some car repair shops. You need the registration paper of your car (a copy is OK). It takes about 5 minutes and costs between 5 € and 7,50 €.

Dance Camp / Check-In / Vintage Market / Kolpinghaus / Vintage Club

Parking at the roadside is only free on Sundays and after 11 pm until the morning. Normally parking at the roadside or in parking structures is quite expensive.

Hotels may have special parking rates for guests. The parking structures Parkgarage Sonnenhof at Landwehrstraße 10 and Parkhaus am Stachus at Adolf-Kolping-Straße 10 gave us a special deal. You can park for a reduced price. A cheapened full day ticket is 10 €. An evening ticket from 6 pm is 5 Euro at the Parkgarage Sonnenhof and 3 Euro at the Parkhaus am Stachus. Ticket discounts are available at the Check-In. From the Parkgarage Sonnenhof you have direct acces to the hallway of the Vintage Club.

The Adolf-Kolping-Straße is a side street of the Sonnenstraße. It is located between the China Fast Food Restaurant and the drugstore Müller (next to the department store Galeria Kaufhof). Entering the Adolf-Kolping-Straße is possible from the Sonnenstraße (east) via the Schlosserstraße and from the Schillerstraße (west). The Vintage Club is two blocks away from the Check-In (Kolpinghaus) in the inner courtyard of the "City Kinos" (cinemas). You can enter via the Sonnenstraße ( next to the "Rossmann" drugstore), the Schwanthalerstraße or from the Parkgarage Sonnenhof.

Alle locatiosn of the festvial except Das Schloss (Friday night) and Deutsches Theater (Sunday night) are in walking distance.

Das Schloss

The access-road to Das Schloss is from Schwere-Reiter-Straße, which crosses Dachauerstraße. With the car it takes about 10-20 minutes from the city. Das Schloss has a free parking area. In case the parking area is full you can park roadside for free at the Ackermann-Bogen.

Deutsches Theater

On the freeway (Autobahn) A 9 München-Nürnberg take the exit München-Fröttmaning-Süd (AS 73). This is alos the exir for the Allianz arena, the big Munich soccer stadium that looks like a big inflatable dinghy. teh exit is also marked with a the symbol of a football. From the city it takes you about 20-30 minutes.

There is adequate parking available for 2 € in the parking lot behind the marquee or for 1 € in the P+R Parking structure. If you park in the P+R structure have your Jamboree Ball ticket with you when you exit. You may need it for the discountd price.

public transportation (MVV)

Dance Camp / Check-In / Vintage Market / Kolpinghaus / Vintage Club

Most locations are in the city center. The closest station is Karlsplatz/Stachus, but you can also take the stations Sendlinger Tor and Hauptbahnhof. All stations have multiple exits. You can check the station maps below to get the best exit.

  • Karlsplatz/Stachus:

The check-in is located together with the Vintage Market in the seminar room of the Kolpinghaus. The entrance is to the right of the Altmünchner Gesellenhaus. The Adolf-Kolping-Straße is a side street of the Sonnenstraße. It is located between the China Fast Food Restaurant and the drugstore Müller (next to the department store Galeria Kaufhof).

The Vintage Club is two blocks away from the Check-In (Kolpinghaus) in the inner courtyard of the "City Kinos" (cinemas). You can enter via the Sonnenstraße ( next to the "Rossmann" drugstore), the Schwanthalerstraße or from the Parkgarage Sonnenhof.

Das Schloss

From Stachus or Hauptbahnhof you can take Tram 20 (direction Moosach). Exit statio Leonrodplatz. The trip last about 10 minutes. The entrance to Das Schloss is from the Schwere-Reiter-Straße. When you exit the tram walk the Schwere-Reiter-Straße north on the left side. The walk is about 5 minutes.

Deutsches Theater

Take the suburban train (U6) and exit Fröttmaning. Coming from the city you can enter U6 (direction Garching) at Marienplatz or Sendlinger Tor. The trip is approx. 16 min. Take the exit to P+R-Parkhaus and follow the underpass to the theatre Deutsches Theater.
